A group of MPs has declared that there is 'widespread' age discrimination in the UK. The Women and Equalities Select Committee say that negative stereotypes of older people as 'frail and helpless' or 'wealth-hoarding boomers' had led to ageism being normalised. The report by the Women and Equalities Select Committee has even suggested that there should be a commissioner for older people across the UK, as there is in Wales and Northern Ireland.
