The Yawn and Sigh Approach for Voice Release
THE YAWN-SIGH APPROACH The yawn-sigh exercise is an easy approach for reducing vocal hyperfunction (putting too much strain on the voice). Yawning lowers the larynx and widens the pharynx thus widening the supraglottal airway. Sighing prevents glottal attack and ensures an easy voice onset. Once you master this simple exercise, you can use the technique on words beginning with /h/ and finally you can implement it in your speech thereby ensuring that you use flow fonation, when you talk. This exercise eliminates laryngeal tension and helps you prevent vocal strain. This makes your voice feel and sound more relaxed. Follow the instructions in the video below.
