Date filmed: Tuesday the 18th of June 2024 Video filmed at 13:05 Route: Sunshine Coast Line (Walton Branch) Between Thorpe-le-Soken (TLS) and Kirby Cross (KBX) Stations Crossing type: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC) Filming location: Pork Lane, Kirby Cross (CO13 0ES) A single 5-car Class 720 unit is seen in this video passing this pleasant, rural automatic crossing on an oddly-named road near Kirby Cross, on its way towards Thorpe-le-Soken where it would wait for the faster Clacton-London service to pass it before continuing its local stopping service to Colchester. This is the single-track branch towards Walton-on-the-Naze with a passing loop at Kirby Cross Station, and it has some incredibly noisy jointed track around this crossing! It's a rather little-changed 1990s install still with its Smiths Industries barriers, and it's a rather nice little crossing.
