Ada Byron Lovelace - Orígenes de las tecnologías digitales | Esther Rubio Herráez | TEDxGranViaWomen
Although the field of computer science and technology is often associated with a male profile, the reality is that throughout history a significant number of women have played a crucial role in its development. Among them, Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace, stands out for her importance and for being the one who truly contributed to creating these technologies. In the heart of the 19th century, in a society as traditional and conservative as England, she earned the admiration of those who knew her and, as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of her birth in 1815, of all of us who currently use her discoveries, directly or indirectly. Esther holds a PhD in Chemical Sciences and is a Professor of Physics and Chemistry. Her research interests focus on education, science, and the contribution of women to the development of science and technology. She is the author of, among other titles, Cyberspace Is Not Half the Sky: On Women, Science, and Digital Technologies (María Isidra de Guzmán Research Prize 2005) and Mileva Einstein-Maric: Why in the Shadows? (2006) and Barbara McClintock (2012). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
