Making a Bridgerton Outfit for my Regency Gown!
Here's how to give your tired Regency wardrobe a Bridgerton level-up! With just a couple of quick, easy projects, you can transform your existing Regency gown into one fit for the ton! First, we'll make a spectactular embroidered open robe using our existing Regency gown pattern, with a gorgeous pleated back and some lovely gold trim. These types of open robes were worn frequently in the Regency period to change up the looks of gowns. I've been wanting a Bridgerton style open robe to compliment my coral Regency gown now for two years, and I'm so excited to show you how simple and fast they are to make! Next, we'll make a gorgeous sleeveless spencer out of some ribbed silk taffeta. While the open robe is more historical fantasy in its fabric choice, this sleeveless spencer is historically adequate and completely hand sewn! This particular style was popular right at the turn of the century, from about 1798-1800, and while that's a little early for the Bridgerton time period (which starts I believe in 1812), it's still totally a thing we see in Bridgerton's costumes, so it's all good! Not only is this spencer super fast to make (only a couple of days of hand sewing!), it's incredibly cute and can be worn with modern clothing when you want to historybound in full Bridgerton style! (Bridgertonbound?? Bridgerbound? Hm...)
