Making a Convertible 1890's Shirtwaist for All Kinds of Weather! 🥵🥶

Let’s make a versatile 1890s shirtwaist with convertible sleeves! The weather is unpredictable, and if we want our historical clothing to do double duty as items to wear to historical events AND be wearable as a historybounding staple the rest of the year, then it’s important that our clothes adapt to the weather—instead of the other way around! In this video, I will walk you through how to make a historically adequate late-Victorian shirtwaist from the 1890’s using Laughing Moon’s 1890’s Shirtwaist pattern, number 103. With one tiny change: instead of permanently attaching the long sleeves, we’re going to make them convertible, so they can come on and off depending on the weather to make a much more useful, versatile piece of clothing for our everyday wardrobe!
