This video is the third in a series of six, "A New Year's Parade Ceremony: An Up-close Look at Yamato's Fire Department." The New Year's Parade Ceremony aims to raise awareness of and deepen trust in the fire service, while also sharing with citizens how to prepare for disasters that year. The Yamato City Fire Department's New Year's Parade Ceremony has traditionally been held at Hikijidai Park's Reiwa Square, but was canceled this year due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19. The Yamato City Fire Department Headquarters has viewed this situation as a new opportunity and decided to film the New Year's Parade Ceremony so that many people can watch it at their convenience. Rather than focusing on traditional ceremonial rites, the six videos take advantage of the unique characteristics of video to focus on the "behind-the-scenes" side of Yamato's fire department, a role that is rarely seen in everyday life. The "Fire Brigade Edition," "Rescue Team Edition," "Fire Brigade Edition," and "Emergency Team Edition" sections each feature key figures and provide an unvarnished look at their activities. *Filming took precautions to prevent infection. ■03 Rescue Team Edition The rescue team responds to accident and disaster scenes with the primary mission of saving lives. We follow Chinen, a sixth-year member of the team, who joined after serving in the city's youth fire brigade. Under the guidance of his senior colleagues, we show him working hard to deepen his knowledge and skills in rescue vehicle operations. There's also plenty of exclusive footage, including footage of him patrolling the area around a local elementary school in a rescue vehicle.
