We Earnt Our Beer Tokens | Surrey Hills | Metal Detecting UK | Equinox 900

In this episode of Bearded Bleepers Metal Detecting, we kick off on a brand new permission in a small village in the beautiful Surrey Hills, and what a start it turned out to be! With four fields to explore, we began with a quick test run, and the very first field was an absolute cracker. Bathed in spring sunshine, we got underway, and it didn’t take long for the finds to start rolling in. Murray’s first signal with his Equinox 900? A Charles II farthing, not a bad way to open a new permission! The second target was also a coin (just a Vicky penny), and at that point we knew we were onto something special. As the day went on, we pulled up coins galore, along with a great mix of artefacts that really show the potential of this land. Yanne had a particularly interesting run, uncovering three old farm tokens, which got us wondering… could these once have been traded in for a pint at the nearby tavern? 🍺 Speaking of which, we had the added bonus of detecting directly opposite a pub, perfect for a well-earned refreshment after a long day in the field! We were also joined for part of the day by Murray’s granddaughter Bella, who helped us uncover even more finds, including a lovely engraved ring. Although it turned out to be copper, it still had plenty of character and history behind it. After giving all four fields a test, one thing is clear, this permission has serious potential. We’ve only just scratched the surface, and we can’t wait to get back out there properly… there are definitely some amazing finds waiting to be discovered.
