From Foundation to Future: Health Data Governance in Canada That Leaves No One Behind

Trust is the foundation of everything we build with health data, and right now, that foundation is cracked. Fragmented records harm patients and cost Canada’s health system an estimated $9.4 billion a year. Canada’s new $2.3B+ AI for All strategy makes data a national asset and names trust as its north star but it doesn’t say who governs it. Building on the momentum behind Bill S-5, the Connected Care for Canadians Act , Networked Health invites you to a conversation with Tim Murphy (Senior Executive, Digital Health Champion, Transformational Leader) and Phil Boyer (Program Manager, Health Data Innovation, INOVAIT Canada). Together they’ll explore how Canada can repair its health data foundation, honour Indigenous data sovereignty, and build the secure, inclusive infrastructure, and the accountable governance that trustworthy AI and a health system that learns, depend on. You’ll leave with: • Why data governance, not the algorithm, decides whether health AI succeeds • The accountability and interoperability moves Canada needs now • What “leaves no one behind” requires for Indigenous, rural, and remote communities Links referenced in the webinar: Canada's National AI Strategy: https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/ised...
