In Sardegna con la nuova HIMALAYAN 450
Our first trip with the new and eagerly awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 could only be in the magical paradise of Sardinia. The island, as we know, is one of the most beautiful destinations a motorcyclist could dream of, and it's right here in Italy! The European launch of the new Indian single-cylinder gave us the excuse to discover, in just one day, an area often overlooked by motorcyclists, between the Costa Smeralda and Gallura. The itinerary and tips for this trip will be available on Moto.it exclusively for our subscribers. Our first experience with the Himalayan 450: • Royal Enfield HIMALAYAN 450: è davvero mig... The new Himalayan is a true all-rounder. A motorcycle that never intimidates and that actually makes life easier, even when we find ourselves facing a more challenging dirt road than expected. It wasn't, isn't, and never will be a specialized enduro. Don't be fooled by the single-cylinder engine, as this is an engine and a motorcycle built for touring. Easy to load, comfortable even for a passenger, and offering numerous small solutions for those traveling, from crash bars with bungee cord slots to the new compact, circular instrument panel that includes connectivity and app navigation. There's plenty of power, torque is readily available even at low revs, and vibrations are acceptable across most of the rev range, only becoming noticeable when traveling at medium speeds on the highway. The lack of aerodynamic protection is also noticeable here, but a larger windshield should improve the situation. Cargo capacity can be increased with the trio of aluminum panniers, which are identical to those on the previous edition. So, those who already purchased them should simply upgrade to the new panniers, which, incidentally, are also more compact. We also found the USB-C port on the handlebars very handy, especially since using the dashboard navigation system—as shown in the video—would significantly reduce our phone's battery life. Beyond the engine's strong performance, the suspension is also impressive, particularly the Showa fork, which proved to be an excellent compromise between comfort on rough terrain and grip even when the riding gets more spirited. The braking system is decent, much more powerful than before, but still not the bike's flagship. Finally, a note on the seat: it's well-shaped and upholstered and much stiffer than the old one, although it can cause some soreness at the end of the day. We thank Royal Enfield and Sardinia Rides for their collaboration. CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 0:27 What are we doing here? 2:44 On the road with the new Himalayan 11:08 At the table!
