FDOT Completes U.S. 17 (S.R. 15) Widening Project in DeLeon Springs
The Florida Department of Transportation has completed roadway improvements along U.S. 17 (State Road 15) in DeLeon Springs, from south of Spring Street to Lake Winona Road. The project widened the roadway from two to four lanes to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. A new roundabout was constructed to enhance safety and keep vehicles moving at steady speeds. Pedestrian upgrades include Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at roundabout crossings and the community’s first traffic signal to help students safely cross near the local elementary school. Additional improvements include a new multi-use trail to better connect pedestrians and bicyclists to destinations throughout the area. Together, these enhancements support safer, more efficient travel for drivers, pedestrians and families in the DeLeon Springs community.
