Fritz Von Erich, feared as "The Iron Claw" from the early days of Japan Pro Wrestling to the founding of All Japan Pro Wrestling, reigned supreme in America as the AWA World Champion and rose to the position of chairman of the NWA during its heyday, dominating both inside and outside the ring. Born in Berlin, Germany in 1931, Fritz moved from Germany to Dallas, Texas, at the age of 13, where he founded a professional wrestling organization. As a professional wrestler with a "Nazi Germany" gimmick, he was both the owner and ace of his wrestling promotion. After retiring, he continued as a promoter, founding WCCW. He built a vast wrestling empire in Dallas, Texas, known as "Iron Claw Land." His promotion flourished with wrestlers like his sons Kevin and David Kelly, Bruiser Brody, and the Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy). He also owned a hotel, a supermarket, and even a bank in Dallas, truly embodying the American Dream. On June 6, 1982, at the age of 55, Fritz held his retirement match at Texas Stadium in his hometown of Dallas, drawing a crowd of 10,000. His three sons, Kevin, David, and Kelly, also participated in the match, strongly demonstrating that the "Iron Claw Kingdom" remained strong even after his retirement.
