SAIAB Official Video for National Marine Week 2021

The #NationalMarineWeek theme this year is about celebrating “The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods” National Marine Week is an annual marine awareness campaign which aims to raise awareness about the conservation of the ocean and coastal environments. Innovation in marine research is required to fully appreciate our ocean and the opportunities within our coasts. For #MarineWeek2021, we share some of the advances and technologies used by NRF-SAIAB’s marine research platforms to ensure the sustainability of the marine environment and in support of the Blue Economy. These include research vessels and innovative equipment such acoustic telemetry, baited remote underwater stereo-video systems (stereo-BRUVs), and the Seaeye Falcon remotely operated vehicle (ROV) capable of working down to 300-meter depth, all invested to marine research. #NationalMarineWeek #LifeAndLivelihoods #MarineWeekSA #MarineWeek
