An underwater journey into fish nursery habitats in Algoa Bay, South Africa

Scientists from the Seascape Ecology research group at the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity take us on an underwater journey, highlighting some of the important fish nursery habitats in Algoa Bay. They discuss the importance of seaweed and seagrass in Algoa Bay as nursery habitats for marine species, especially fishes and how these need to be protected and taken care of to maximise the benefits that these habitats ultimately provide for people. The Seascape Ecology student scientists discuss their exciting research that aims to understand how these habitats function as nurseries in order to make recommendations for their protection and conservation.
