About Brittney Larsen: Brittney is a Mental Health Counsellor based in Nelson, BC, with a collaborative and integrative approach to therapy. Brittney works with individuals, couples, and families using trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and evidence-based practices. Grounding her professional understanding in an existential-humanistic approach to how individuals create meaning of their experiences, Brittney’s therapeutic presence is warm, reflective, and non-judgmental, inviting curiosity, honesty, and humour (where appropriate), while focusing on each individuals’ strengths. Valuing the therapeutic relationship as a space to explore and process, Brittney approaches counselling with humility and empathy. Prior to counselling, Brittney’s professional path reflects a lifelong commitment to supporting others. She has earned undergraduate degrees in Education from the University of British Columbia and in Psychology & History from the University of Victoria. After gaining experience as a mental health outreach worker, Brittney has spent over a decade as an educator and mentor. These roles, along with volunteer leadership in community-based family programs, inform her depth of understanding and ability to connect with clients across diverse life stages and needs.
