Edward Taylor plays Vaughan Williams: Rhosymedre from Three Preludes on Welsh Hymn Tunes

Rhosymedre is a hymn tune named after the village of the same name in the County Borough of Wrexham, Wales. Vaughan Williams uses this tune to form the central Hymn Prelude in his set of three based on Welsh Hymn melodies. It is subtitled 'Lovely'. The piece is gentle and lyrical with the accompaniment in the right hand and pedals and the tune set in the left hand for the first section. The next section is thicker in texture and the tune is heard above the accompaniment this time. The piece ends as it began with a statement of the accompanimental thematic material. Performed on the organ of Carlisle Cathedral
