Edward Taylor plays 'Benedictus' (No. 1) by A. Rowley
Edward Taylor plays the first of two pieces entitled 'Benedictus' by the British composer Alec Rowley. Rowley's music is full of rich harmonies and lyrical tunes. This piece opens gently on swell flutes and strings and builds to a small climax on the full swell and great diapasons. After returning to the opening theme at a different pitch, another build of tension and volume culminates in the climax of the piece on nearly full organ. After reducing, an exact return of the opening continues leading into the coda, ending gently on the swell strings. Performed here at Carlisle Cathedral
