Hello, this is Puchi, the administrator of the GoGo Rubber Gun K3 Channel. Thank you for watching as always. Today's video is part 2 of my customization of the Dahon K3 folding bike, which I purchased on Rakuten Market in February of this year. In the previous video, I showed how I customized the bike shortly after purchasing it by adding Ergon-style grips from a manufacturer called PALMY, changing the tires to Schwalbe Big Apple 2.0s, a standard feature for the K3, which made the ride more comfortable, and adding universal mudguards from Cycle Base Asahi, making it easier to use on wet roads. Six months have passed since my last customization video, so today I'll be introducing the parts I've added in the meantime. #MiniVelo #DAHON #FoldingBike ▽Contents of this video 00:00 Opening 00:30 Greetings 00:45 Review of the previous customization video 01:20 Pedals: MKS (Mikashima Pedal) FD-7 Review and Impressions 02:23 Rear Derailleur Pulley: SHIMANO DURA ACE - Smoother shifting 03:10 Thread Locking Agent: Loctite 243 03:30 Carrier Block & Brompton Bag, etc. 04:00 Nissen Cable Brake & Shifter Wire Replacement 04:20 Introduction to "LORO Kyoto," a small-wheel bicycle specialty store 04:45 About bicycle bags and bike transport bags 05:30 Pros and cons of carrier blocks and Brompton bags 06:20 Updated light set 06:55 Nog-style bell 07:00 Drink holder & toolbox 07:25 Summary: The appeal of the K3 and lifestyle changes = ... This product's appealing low price, under 1,000 yen, is its appealing price, but it's rumored to be less durable with repeated use. I've been using it heavily for over six months, and although it's starting to wrinkle, it hasn't developed any holes and looks like it will last a little longer. 1. Grips: Ergon-style grips I replaced this product by searching for a cheap pair online at Yodobashi Camera. I'm generally satisfied. 2. Tires: Big Apple 14-inch/2.00 Rakuten Market: https://a.r10.to/h6mf1N Next, the tires. The original bike came with very thin, 14-inch, hard rubber tires, but they offered almost no cushioning and felt very bumpy, like riding on wooden carriage wheels. The ride is much more comfortable now. It's a bit bumpier than a mamachari, but I can now ride without worrying about uneven sidewalk joints. I used to think that the thinner the bicycle tires, the better, but I learned that there's an optimum tire thickness. I'm glad I replaced them, too. Just as I was getting used to riding my K3 and starting to overcome bumps with aplomb, the side of the wheel cracked and curled up. This seems to be a common symptom for K3 riders, and I've also seen other issues, such as broken spokes. It seems the correct way to ride a K3 is to use the brakes firmly and ride slowly, rather than speeding around. 3. Mudguards - Asahi Bicycles, Generic, 14-inch The day after I bought my K3, I took the train to lunch. There were lots of melting snow and puddles, and riding without mudguards would have been a bit tricky, so I bought some generic 14-inch mudguards to make riding more comfortable. I think they're for children's bicycles, but I purchased them from Asahi Bicycles' online store. I made attachments and brackets to fit the bike and attached them. The most difficult parts were adjusting the clearance between the tire and the mudguard and dealing with vibration. First of all, the front side is fixed in only one place, so when I first installed it, it vibrated and made a resonating noise, so I sandwiched EVA sponge in the gap between the front fork and the front fender. The rear side was completely impossible to install as it was, so I drilled out the original screw holes in the body to make them loose, and then created several spacers and stays through trial and error to get the clearance just right, and then fitted them to the actual part to arrive at the current shape. The rear brake arm is close to the tire, so the fender itself is recessed to avoid interference. Since I bought two K3s at the same time, I also bought two aftermarket parts and am working on both at the same time. I'm not sure if the reason is because there is variation in the machining precision of the body, or because of my own workmanship, but I think it's fine for people who already have a certain level of DIY skill and tools and enjoy this type of work, but I did get the impression that it was quite difficult. I also replaced the tires with Big Apples, which are a size larger and thicker, which I think may be one of the reasons why it's more difficult. 4. Dahon Genuine Stand (Parallel Import) Rakuten Market https://a.r10.to/hwI538 The Dahon K3 doesn't come with a kickstand when you buy it. While it's not necessary since you fold it up when you're not riding, I found it inconvenient when I wanted to take photos of the scenery while riding my bike, so I decided to install a kickstand. I purchased this Dahon Genuine Stand (Parallel Import) from Rakuten Market. The sales page said it was a genuine Dahon stand fo...
