Ubud, Bali. Tuesday, 28 April 2026. Late morning in Ubud, Bali. Earlier, the rain briefly passed through, leaving behind cloudy skies that slowly cleared as we continued our walk. The changing weather creates a fresh and peaceful atmosphere — perfect for exploring Ubud on foot. We begin our journey from Ubud Main Street, then slip into a small alley that leads us դեպի a hidden rice field area just north of Ubud Town. This scenic path is known as the Sweet Orange Walk Trail, part of the traditional farming area called Subak “Juwuk Manis” — which translates to “Sweet Orange”. This is one of the last remaining rice field areas in central Ubud, offering a unique glimpse into the quieter, more authentic side of Bali from the busy tourist streets. Along the trail, you’ll see ducks wandering, farmers working the land, and the gentle rhythm of daily life in the rice fields. We continue walking until we reach Kajeng Street, the main access road to Subak Juwuk Manis. Closer to Ubud Main Street, this road becomes lively with souvenir stalls and clothing vendors, creating a contrast between rural calm and tourist activity. Next, we turn right into Pucuk Alley, a narrow lane that leads us to Suweta Street, where we enter the western gate of Ubud Palace. The palace is quite busy today, with visitors exploring its traditional Balinese architecture and taking photos. From there, we cross over to Ubud Town Square, before heading into Karna Street. This narrow street is packed with souvenir and clothing stalls, even more compact than Kajeng Street, making it feel busier and more vibrant.
