I Ran Out of Logs… So I Cut a Dead Pine Just in Time (Sawmill Save)

It’s the start of 2026, and I’m finishing a board-and-batten siding order when things get interesting. I’m cutting 1x10 and 1x3 siding for a customer, down to my last few logs, and realize I have no choice but to head into the woods and cut a standing dead pine. While felling the tree, it leans the wrong way and pins my chainsaw. With the job on the line and the customer on the way, I jump on the sawmill bobcat to push the tree over and free the saw.
