Histoire des pistolets Deringer
The derringer is a type of small, cylinderless pocket pistol. It was developed by the American gunsmith Henri Deringer, who gave it his name and manufactured it between 1835 and 1868. These original percussion Deringers bear an inscription with his name and the place, (example Deringer/PhiladelA). Copies were later marketed under this same name by other manufacturers, and it has therefore undergone antonomasia, henceforth designating any pistol of this type.
