This isn't a short journey; rather an epic drive along the 113 miles of Overseas Highway with its stunning views surrounded by ocean. And as gorgeous as the drive was, it was the stops along the way that made it fun and exciting. First stop, a little breakfast to start the day and the Cracker Barrel, then visiting Robbie's Marina with a full tourist mindset... that certainly was a must see stop with so many attractions: excursions, water sports, a drink or two, and of course, feeding those tarpons! But along the drive, I did notice a sign that was too good to be true...an all you can eat Seafood buffet along the way...for mountains of blue crab and lobsters too (well, not a whole lobster, but it will suffice). And at the end on the line, the most southern part of the US, I arrive at Key West! Reaching mile zero took me to a place of a time gone by...yard birds roaming the streets, the sights and smells of great eats, and the friendly atmosphere. Being only here once in a blue moon, I certainly had to indulges in those crispy, fluffy conch fritters and end with a slice of key lime pie.
