Yesterday, a colleague sent us an email with some interesting data and the claim that the octane rating displayed at a gas station was incorrect. Since we don't let such matters go unchallenged, we investigated ourselves. In addition, we've repeatedly experienced issues with pinging ignition under load and ignition retardation in our own vehicles, which further raised our suspicions.
