Disregarding the safe multi-cuisine approach of most highway eateries to cater to each and everyone, the couple focused only on Kodava dishes, a cuisine that not too many knew of outside Coorg back then. This gutsy gamble seems to have paid off, for today Coorg Cuisine is ‘the stop’ for its namesake cuisine for travelers (in the know) in Madikeri. I dropped in for an impromptu lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find some delicious vegetarian dishes too, like a top notch baby brinjal fry, a mellow bamboo shoot curry, in addition to the usual non veg fare - pandi curry, mutton fry, etc. that one expects to find in this part of the state.
