Keep down the keys until the confirmation sound is beeped. This operation initializes the NV-RAM without a system error caused by its data loss. (The setting is reset to the value fixed in the ROM.) If you don't do this then you may find the machine behaves strangely and keeps forgetting settings, such as going into REMOTE 2 (50P) mode at each power up.
