Cogta committee backs Treasury’s withholding of municipal funds
The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs welcomed National Treasury’s decision to withhold equitable share transfers from non-compliant municipalities. It has urged affected municipalities to meet the required conditions so their funding can be released. Committee chairperson Dr Zwelini Mkhize discusses their position and the steps municipalities must take to restore funding.
