Why The Coast Guard Is The Best Branch To Learn Law Enforcement/Posse Comitatus Law
Every branch of the military has law enforcement, but DOD military personnel, even those in investigative agencies, are barred from engaging in civilian law enforcement and are limited to the UCMJ. The Coast Guard is not bound by the Posse Comitatus Law and does engage in drug interdiction, prevent migrant smuggling/human trafficking and enforces federal laws on the seas.
