Project PROCOMP - A new production and design method for a hydrogen fuel tank
A new production and design method for a hydrogen fuel tank was launched at the Centre for Lightweight Production Technology in Augsburg. The tank structure out of carbon fibre-reinforced thermoplastics was melted with new head source based on a xenon lamp. The differential design of the tank eases installing various systems inside and outside the tank. Each part production uses a novel quality assurance system for the Automated Fibre Placement. The placement quality is constantly verified and the QA data stored. The individual parts are finally joined by means of ultrasonic welding.
