Eleven time zones, eighty-five federal subjects, languages that don't share an alphabet, religions that don't share a god, and climates that range from subtropical beaches to minus sixty in winter. When people in Kaliningrad are eating breakfast, people in Kamchatka are eating dinner — in the same country. In this video we travel across all of Russia from west to east, region by region, uncovering the stereotypes, rivalries and contradictions that define a federation held together by tension, regional pride, resentment toward Moscow and an absurd amount of vodka. We start in Kaliningrad, the Russian enclave surrounded by Europe; pass through the cultural superiority of Saint Petersburg and the arrogance of Moscow; explore the Cossack south, the subtropical Black Sea coast, and the impossible diversity of the North Caucasus, where Chechnya, Dagestan and dozens of mountain peoples live by their own rules. We cross the Volga into Tatar and Bashkir lands, climb the Urals into Ekaterinburg's industrial heart, plunge into Siberia through Omsk, Novosibirsk and the shores of Lake Baikal, and finish at the end of the map: Yakutia's minus sixty winters, Chukotka facing Alaska, Vladivostok closer to Tokyo than to Moscow, and the volcanoes of Kamchatka. Eighty-five worlds inside a single flag. 🔗 Here's a similar video:    • The Stereotypes of the 48 English Counties...   🔗 Here's a recommended video:    • All 8 Australian Territories and States Ex...
