My name is Diego Mutti, and in this video, I aim to explain what the Washington Consensus was, one of the most cited and widely used economic guidelines to this day, and one that still generates considerable controversy among scholars. I will discuss the work that gave the consensus its name, as well as other works by its main author, John Williamson, in which he seeks to explain details about the consensus, in addition to various "misunderstandings" surrounding the guidelines, which were widely defended by economic literature from the 1990s onwards.
