Welcome to Economics is Science! My name is Diego Mutti, and in this video, I aim to explain, in a non-exhaustive way, the main differences between Liberalism and Neoliberalism. In short, Liberalism is a centuries-old political movement, designed to give individuals the greatest possible equality and autonomy in the face of authoritarian states. Among the movement's proposals is the "free market." Neoliberalism, on the other hand, was a movement of the 1980s that sought to revive these free-market ideas that had been "forgotten" between 1930 and 1970, a time of Keynesian economic hegemony. However, neoliberalism has little commitment to political models and civil rights, focusing mainly on the economic aspect of nations.
