✍️ Today’s Run Note I headed out at 5 a.m., but it was already surprisingly hot. The moment I stepped outside and felt the warm, humid air, I knew summer had truly arrived. Even before sunrise, the air felt heavy with moisture, and the breeze was anything but refreshing. It felt more like warm air blowing from a hair dryer. Summer running in Korea can be incredibly challenging because of the heat and humidity. Around this time of year, it also rains so often that it sometimes feels like every run is either in the heat or in the rain. I actually enjoy running in the rain during the summer. I get soaked during the rainy season, but it still feels much cooler and more comfortable than running under the blazing sun. Once the rainy season is over, though, the real heat arrives. The strong sunshine returns, the humidity stays high, and every run feels harder. No matter how slowly I go, my heart rate shoots up much faster than usual. Now that summer is here, I think it is time to start my runs even earlier in the morning. Whenever I struggle through a hot summer run, I find myself thinking about runners in Southeast Asia. I have a lot of respect for the people who train consistently in that kind of heat and humidity. Thank you for another day of running. Wishing you happiness and love in your life.
