CHUNCHEON BOMNAE 20K RACE | 2026 춘천봄내마라톤 하프코스 | 808th Running (6/6/2026)

BEGINNER RUNNING VLOG ✍️ Today’s Run Note This race will always be special to me because it was the very first race I entered after I started running. I first participated in 2024, and this year was my third time lining up at the start. I arrived a little early and spent some time walking around the venue, remembering that first race. Every time I think back to it, I cannot help but smile. Back then, I showed up wearing whatever seemed comfortable, with a GoPro strapped to my chest and a belly that bounced more than my running form. I started near the back of the field and simply hoped I could make it to the finish line. Looking back now, those memories still make me laugh. This year was completely different. For the first time, I stood right at the front of the starting line. Running near the front is incredibly exciting. If I were chasing a personal best, I would need to control my pace and avoid going out too fast. But that was not my goal today. I came here to enjoy one of my favorite races of the year. If I blew up halfway through, that was fine. As long as I did not aggravate my ankle, I wanted to run freely and enjoy every moment. Watching the lead runners was inspiring. I felt like I was running hard, yet the front pack disappeared into the distance almost immediately. It is amazing to think that they can maintain that speed all the way to the finish. For much of the second half, I found myself running alone. It was a little lonely, but it also gave me a chance to look around and appreciate parts of the course that I had never really noticed before. One of those places was Legoland Korea, the first Legoland built in Korea. Amazingly, it took me three years of running this race to actually notice it. In previous years, I had been so focused on the road ahead that I completely missed it. What surprised me most was the final result. Last year, I was not even inside the top 100. This year, I finished 33rd overall. The number itself is not the most important thing, but it reminded me how far I have come. Last year, I was simply happy to run 20 kilometers at a 5:00/km pace. This year, despite dealing with an injury, I was able to run much faster and enjoy the race at the same time. Ironically, my left ankle, which had been bothering me recently, felt surprisingly good throughout the race. Instead, the right posterior tibial tendon, which I thought had mostly recovered, remained a little tight and uncomfortable. The discomfort is not severe, but it still reminds me that recovery is not always a straight line. Even after the race, the pain has remained manageable. Still, I have learned to be cautious. Injuries often reveal themselves the day after a hard effort rather than during it, so I will be paying close attention over the next day or two. More than anything, I am simply happy. I got to enjoy my favorite race again. I got to revisit old memories and create new ones. And I got to see how much I have changed since that nervous runner standing near the back of the pack in 2024. I will be back again next year. And when I do, I plan to destroy today's record. I wonder how much fun next year's race will be. Thank you for another day of running. Wishing you happiness and love in your life.
