And that "Natural yarn like wool and cotton can hold water and become heavy when wet". I agree, the yarn that I used in this video is acrylic, and I love it. However, I've tried cotton & wool before. Personally I don't think they're bad material underwater at all (especially when your bikini holds on well to your body like the one that we're gonna make, in which we tie-string everything). It kept it shape pretty well underwater. And when I got out of the water, there was no problem. For this I would say, if you prefer your bikini to snap close to body, then ANY material would work just fine✨. Only if you want the bikini to be a bit loose upon wearing, then synthetic & acrylic yarn should be your option 😉 Please note that everything else, including crochet hook size and yarn (weight & amount), was covered in the beginning of the video. Yet they are only recommendations (though highly recommended). You can actually use any kind of tools & materials you want to create your own version of the set, or even different fabric effects.
