ගම්පහ පුරාණ අස්ගිරිය ලෙන් විහාරයේ අසිරිය Gampaha hidden natural treasures

ගම්පහ ඉපැරණි අස්ගිරිය ගල්ලෙන් විහාරය දැක බලාගන්නයි සූදානම් වෙන්නේ. ගම්පහ ඓතිහාසික වශයෙන් වටිනා පූජනීය ස්ථාන රාශියක්ම තියෙනවා. ඒ අතරින් අස්ගිරිය රජ මහා විහාරයට විශේෂ තැනක් හිමිවෙනවා. ගම්පහ නගරයට ඉතාම ආසන්නයෙන් පිහිටා ඇති මේය බුලත් කඩේ හන්දියේ මීටර් පන්සීයක පමණ දුරින් පිහිටනවා. මෙහි ඇති ලෙන් විහාරවලට ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ තුන හතර කාලය දක්වා පැරැණි අතීතයක් ඇති අතර භාවනායෝගී භික්ෂූන් විසින් භාවිත කළ ලෙන් විහාර ලෙස සැලකෙනවා. මෙහි ඇති ගල් පුවරුවක අශ්වරුවක් කොටා ඇති බැවින් අශ්ව රුව සහිත ගිරිය අස්සගිරිය ලෙස හඳුන්වා ඇති බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ. මෙම කඳු ගැටය වළගම්බා රජු සැඟවී සිටි ස්ථානයක් බවත් පැවසෙනවා. අනතුරුව සකල කලාවල්ලබ රජතුමා විසින් මෙතන විහාරස්ථානයක් කරවූ බවත් සඳහන් වෙනවා. කෙසේ වෙතත් පසු කාලීනව මහනුවර යුගයේදී ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ සිදුවී ඇති බවත් මහනුවර යුගයට අයත් මූර්ති හා සිතුවම් ඇති බවත් නිරීක්ෂණය කළ හැකියි. ඉපැරණි බෝධින් වහන්සේ නමක් වැඩ සිටින මෙහි බ්‍රාහ්මීය අක්ෂර සහිත පාෂාණ කැබැලි දැකිය හැකි යි. ඒවායේ රෙදි පිළි නිර්මාණය කරන කර්මාන්තශාලාවක් මෙහි පැවැති බව සඳහන් කර ඇතැයි කියවෙනවා. කුඩා ගලින් කළ පොකුණකුත් නිදන් තැන්පත් කර තැබුවේ යැයි සැලකිය හැකි ස්ථානයකුත් නිරීක්ෂණය කළ හැකියි. කෙසේ වුවත් ඉහළ මළුව සිත නිවා සනසන මෙය ඉතා සුන්දර ස්ථානයකි. Today we are going to visit the historical Asgiriya Gallen Temple in Gampaha. Gampaha has many historically valuable sacred places. Among them, Asgiriya Raja Maha Vihara has a special place. it is located at a distance of five hundred meters at Bulath Kade junction and very close to Gampaha city. The cave temples here have an ancient past up to 3-4 AD and are considered to be cave temples used by meditative monks. It is said that the rock with the carved horse is known as Assagiriya. It is also said that this mountain area is a place where King Valagamba was hiding. It is also mentioned that King Sakala Kalawallaba built a temple here. However, it can be observed that renovations have taken place during the Kandy period and there are sculptures and paintings belonging to the Kandy period. Rock fragments with Brahmic characters can be seen here where an ancient Bo tree resides. It is said that there was a factory here to create cloth idols. A small stone pond and a place where treasures are believed to have been deposited can also be observed. However, this is a very beautiful place to relax in the upper courtyard.
