SALGALA FOREST MONASTERY, GALAPITAMADA, SRI LANKA. Salgala forest monastery, situated about 4km away from Galapitamada town,Kegalle district in Sri lanka. Salgala is a natural forest reserve extending over 700 acres. The history of the monastery goes back to the pre- christian era. The salgala forest is surrounded by rocks and drip ledges caves. The caves were donated to maha sanga in the ancient past. According to the history and folklore this place was used by king walagamba in 103 century B.C. Calm and silent place to visit.
