The owner told us the motorcycle had no spark, and this happened while we were assembling it for delivery. The spark suddenly disappeared, and we started investigating what had happened since we had only installed the gas tank when this problem appeared. The good thing is that this happened here in the workshop, as it's very bad when you receive a complaint after delivering a motorcycle. We started by checking the input pulses coming from the pickup coil and initially discovered there were none. The strange thing is that we had just installed the ring gear the day before, and I wondered if perhaps it was missing a ground connection, which would explain why the pickup wasn't sending pulses. We checked the grounds and realized they were present; it's just that we may not have touched the pins correctly during the testing. We began to suspect the CDI was the culprit, since a ground is connected to pin #3, and this ground is internally shared by the CDI on pin #4, which is the ground that reaches the pickup coil. So we replaced it, but it turned out that wasn't the problem. We couldn't understand what was happening, since all the conditions were there for the CDI to start the motorcycle, but it wasn't producing a spark. We had input pulses on pin #1, grounds on pins #3 and #4, and alternating current on pin #6, and still there was no spark. Why? The only thing I could think of at that moment was that maybe the pins weren't making contact with the CDI, and that's why, even though everything was there, the spark wasn't returning. Upon checking them, we realized that the owner had opened the pins too much, which is why they weren't making contact.
