Today we'll cover more specific situations that were left out of our first video, which aimed to address the topic of Minor Travel in a broader way, presenting the rules in a more general way. In this video, we'll take advantage of your questions to delve a little deeper into the subject, including points such as passport authorization, invitation letters, emancipation, custody, absent fathers, and more. Part 1:    • AUTORIZAÇÃO de VIAGEM de menor de idade: C...   If you want to know the rules surrounding travel for children and adolescents in Brazil or abroad, this is the video for you. Our proposal for today's video is to quickly explain the rules surrounding this topic, while also noting that this type of judicial authorization is only required in very specific cases, and therefore, there are exceptions. Generally speaking, the ECA establishes that we will have different rules depending on three basic pieces of information: the minor's age, where they are going, and who they are going with. To make it easier to understand, I will organize this explanation focusing on the destination. Domestic Travel For domestic travel, that is, those with a departure and destination within Brazil, children up to 15 years of age may travel unaccompanied, provided they have written authorization notarized by a parent or legal guardian. If they are accompanied by a father, mother, legal guardian, uncles, grandparents, or an adult sibling, they do not need this authorization. However, it is important that everyone has official documents proving their relationship or responsibility. Now, if a child up to 15 years of age must travel accompanied by someone other than one of the relatives I just mentioned or a legal guardian, administrative authorization notarized by a parent or legal guardian will be required, similar to what happens when a child travels unaccompanied. On the other hand, if the teenager is 16 or 17 years old, they can travel unaccompanied without needing authorization, as long as they carry their original photo ID (ID, work permit, or passport). International Travel What if the trip is abroad? Folks, if the trip is abroad, the rules become stricter, because, as I mentioned at the beginning of this video, the risk of human trafficking is even greater. For international travel, the minor must be accompanied by both parents. If one parent is deceased, a death certificate will be required. On the other hand, if the parent who will not be accompanying the minor is still alive, their written authorization with a notarized signature will be required. Administrative authorization from both parents (or the surviving parent) must also be provided if the child or teenager is traveling alone or accompanied by a third person other than their parents. But there's a very important point: if this third party is a foreigner living outside the country, this authorization must be granted by a judge of the Children and Youth Court (or by the On-Call Judge, depending on the case). Other points I must emphasize are the following: 1- Student IDs (even international ones), vaccination records, or club membership cards do not serve as official documents; 2- Birth certificates (original or certified copy) can only be used by children up to 11 years of age. After this age, only official documents with a photo, such as a national ID card, passport, and work permit, are permitted; 3- Companions who have a family relationship or legal responsibility for the minor must have the original documents proving this relationship. Hence the need for a birth certificate for children over 11 in these cases, given the possibility of verifying the names of grandparents; This information, the authorization form, and the list of documents required for children and adolescents to travel can be found on the websites of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the Federal Police, and the State Courts of Justice.
