Gonggang Reservoir is a reservoir located in Magetan Regency, East Java. Surrounded by hills and beautiful natural scenery, Gonggang Reservoir is often visited by tourists to enjoy the natural beauty, fish, or just relax. This reservoir also plays an important role in maintaining water availability for the surrounding community, especially during the dry season. Gonggang Reservoir is located in Janggan Village, Poncol District, Magetan Regency, East Java. This reservoir is located in a hilly area, about 25 km from the center of Magetan City and close to the border of East Java and Central Java. Access to Gonggang Reservoir is quite easy, it can be reached by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. The road is winding because it is in a mountainous area, but the scenery along the way is quite beautiful. Gonggang Reservoir has several main functions, namely: Irrigation 🌾 Providing water for surrounding agricultural land, helping farmers increase crop yields, especially during the dry season. Raw Water Source 🚰 Used as a water reserve for the needs of the surrounding community, both for household needs and small industries. Flood Control 🌊 Functions to accommodate rainwater and reduce the risk of flooding in downstream areas, especially during the rainy season. Tourism & Recreation 🎣🏞️ Becoming a tourist destination with beautiful natural scenery. Visitors can fish, relax, or enjoy the beauty of the reservoir. Fisheries 🐟 Used for fish farming, both by fishermen and the surrounding community to improve the economy. The construction of this reservoir began in 2006 with the main aim of providing a source of irrigation for agriculture in the southern region of Magetan Regency, which often experiences drought due to arid and barren land conditions.
