Algama Sri sangaraja raja maha viharaya, Algama,Pothuhera,Sri lanka. Algama Sri sngaraja rajamaha viharaya is located approximately 4 kilometers from pothuhera and about 6 kilometers from Wadakada. The temple can also reached by turning at kiralabokka junction on the Narammala-Kurunegala road and traveling approximately 4 kilometers. The rock cave at this temple is believed to date back to the Anuradhapura period . However, the shrine room that can be seen inside the cave today was constructed during the kandyan period. The shrine room of this temple is a small art gallery and memorial site adorned with mural paintings dating from the kandyan period. The temple was renovated during the reign of sri wickrama rajasinghe. It is also a temple where weliwita Sri saranankara sangaraja thero is believed to have resided. Nestled at the foot of Algama hill, with a picturesque paddy fieid stretching before it, the temple stands in a beautiful and tranquil natural setting.
