The African continent loses approximately $200 billion annually due to inefficiencies in its logistics system, a major constraint on economic growth and the integration of regional markets. This estimate was given by Pedro Neto, CEO of Eaglestone, during the II Expansão Logistics Forum, where he presented on the economic potential of logistics corridors. According to him, this deficit highlights one of the greatest structural weaknesses of the African economy, but also represents one of its greatest opportunities for transformation. Pedro Neto also estimated that the development of integrated logistics corridors could unlock up to $1.3 trillion in intra-African trade by 2035, underlining the potential of these projects to boost economic growth on the continent. In this context, he emphasized that transport infrastructure, digital connectivity, adequate financing, and greater regional integration should be seen as fundamental pillars for accelerating economic development.
