Mongols Motorcycle Club: The Rise of a Biker Empire

On December 5, 1969, in the city of Montebello, California, ten men came together to create what would eventually become one of the most recognized and feared outlaw motorcycle clubs in the world—the Mongols Motorcycle Club. The club was born during a period of major social change, anti-war activism, and growing cultural tensions across the United States. For its founders, however, it was more than a motorcycle club. It was a brotherhood built on loyalty, protection, and shared experiences. Most of the original members were Chicano veterans returning home from the Vietnam War. After surviving brutal combat overseas, many came back to East Los Angeles feeling disconnected from society and struggling to find support or understanding in civilian life
