And why was Nokia often ahead of its time? For this documentary, I visited the Jena Telephone Museum and embarked on a journey through more than a century of communication technology. From the first hand-crank telephones and East German telephone exchanges to Nokia's legendary mobile phones and early smartphones, the technological development is clearly illustrated. Many of these devices originated in Thuringia and accompanied generations through their daily lives. What once required entire rooms full of technology now fits in a pocket. This documentary showcases not only the devices themselves but also the ideas, engineering achievements, and societal changes behind them.
