"The Adventure of the Retired Colourman" is a Sherlock Holmes short story by Arthur Conan Doyle. Watson also encounters a rival detective, Barker, who has been hired by Dr. Ernest's family to find him. Holmes suspects something more sinister than a simple elopement. He sends Amberley and Watson on a wild goose chase, allowing him to secretly investigate Amberley's house.
