However, many of these products are vastly overrated, overpriced, or even potentially harmful. First, it's important to address some fundamental misconceptions that repeatedly arise in connection with superfoods. Many people focus too much on individual products and lose sight of the bigger picture: a balanced, varied diet. A single food—no matter how healthy it may be—cannot compensate for the overall negative impact of fast food and nutrient deficiencies. In addition, many consumers blindly trust advertising promises and influencer statements. These often suggest that a particular superfood can prevent or even cure diseases. The reality is much more sobering: The scientific evidence for many of these claims is extremely thin or nonexistent. Another problem lies in the quality and processing of these products. Many so-called superfoods are highly processed, contain added sugar, or low-quality ingredients, which significantly limits their health benefits. The cost-benefit ratio is also often misjudged. Many of these foods are simply too expensive for what they actually do. And last but not least, superfoods are often seen as some kind of miracle cure, even though no single food in the world can cure diseases like cancer or stop aging.
