Jeff || Nehemiah 4 || Title: Build with One Hand, Hold Faith with the Other Key Verse “Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” — Nehemiah 4:14 INTRODUCTION Whenever God begins a work of restoration, opposition is rarely far behind. In Nehemiah 3, the wall was rising. The people were united. Progress was visible. But in Nehemiah 4, the enemies became alarmed. Why? Because broken walls were being rebuilt. The same principle remains true today. The enemy is rarely concerned when people remain spiritually complacent. But when believers begin praying seriously, studying God's Word, serving faithfully, overcoming sin, and advancing God's mission, resistance often increases. Sanballat and Tobiah mocked the builders. They ridiculed their efforts. They questioned their ability. They predicted failure. Eventually, they even plotted violence. The goal was simple: --- If they could not stop the work physically, they would try to stop it through fear and discouragement. But Nehemiah responded wisely. He prayed. He remained vigilant. He encouraged the people. And he kept building. The result? The wall continued to rise. This chapter points powerfully to Jesus. Throughout His earthly ministry, Christ faced constant opposition from religious leaders, political authorities, demons, and even misunderstanding from His own followers. Yet He never abandoned His mission. The cross itself was the greatest attack of evil against God's plan of salvation. Yet what appeared to be Satan's victory became heaven's triumph. --- Through the cross, Jesus transformed apparent defeat into eternal victory.
