Focke-Wulf 190: The Butcher Bird | WWII Documentary

When it first appeared over the skies of France in 1941, this radial engine aircraft was a formidable and ominous foe to the RAF. Much loved by it’s pilots and undoubtably ranked as one of the finest piston engine fighters of the Second World War, it served on all the German theatres of war from the Western front, North Africa and the Defence of the Reich. It formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s fighter force along with the Messerschmidt Bf 109 and was versatile as a fighter, fighter bomber, ground attack aircraft and to a lesser degree, operating as a night fighter.
