This Pow Wow Pushed Me to My Limit | 3:30am Finish
Ya’at’éeh! Aaron Tsosie here — the person behind the camera. Welcome to Part 2 of Saturday at the Pechanga Pow Wow! I always aim to film my pow wow coverage with a single camera, in one continuous, uninterrupted take. My videos often run 6, 8, 10 hours—and sometimes push close to 12. This Saturday, the pow wow ran just under 15 hours. After editing, I trimmed it down to just under 14 hours… only to learn that YouTube has a 12-hour or 256GB upload limit. Because of that, I had to split Saturday into two videos. It would’ve been amazing to keep this one whole for my portfolio, but here we are 😮💨 After the fireworks during dinner break, we move into drum roll call, prayer, and the Saturday evening Grand Entry at 8pm. Most pow wows wrap up around 11pm—but not Pechanga. This night went until 3:30am 😭 I was exhausted. Yawning nonstop behind the camera. My legs and back were done from sitting on my little tripod stool, and I was making frequent coffee and bathroom runs just to stay upright. Still—when I look back at the final product, it’s always worth it. This ended up being 13 hours and 53 minutes of continuous coverage, so long it had to be split into two videos. That’s something you’ll only find here on Indigenous Event Recordings 😎 If you’re planning to attend Pechanga in the future, keep in mind that multi-day pow wow reviews are spread across all my uploads, so be sure to check out the Friday video and Part 1 as well. I’ve got plenty to say. Pechanga continues to be one of the best pow wows in the Southwest, and I’m always grateful to be able to document it. Thanks for watching. See you in the next one.
