THE ASPIRATION PRAYER FOR [REBIRTH IN] SUKHAVATĪ Reciting this aspiration prayer for rebirth in Sukhavati, the Pure Land of Amitabha, establishes the four causes for taking birth there: clearly visualizing the Pure Land and its perfect arrangement; accumulating the two collections of merit and wisdom; cultivating bodhicitta as one’s companion; and dedicating all virtues as the supporting condition. Through these four causes, one is born in Sukhavati and endowed with four sublime qualities: directly beholding the Buddha’s face, continuously receiving the Dharma, never falling back from the path to enlightenment, and swiftly accomplishing complete awakening for the benefit of all beings.
