Indahnya Salib Kasih Tarutung di Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara Provinsi Sumatera Utara

My solo journey to the Batak Lands of North Sumatra continued with a visit to one of the tourist attractions and icons of Tarutung City, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province: the Cross of Love, located atop Siatas Barita Hill. The Cross of Love was erected to commemorate Nommensen's service in his mission to spread Protestant Christianity in the Batak Lands. The reason the Cross of Love was erected on Siatas Barita Hill is because Nommensen once vowed to dedicate his life to evangelizing in the Batak Lands until the end of his life, and for his devotion, Nommensen was called the Apostle of the Batak Lands. To reach the Cross of Love area, we had to navigate a winding, uphill road, but the road was in very good condition with no damage.
